FlightSimBuilder G1000TNxi Instructions
I. General Setup
- Connect the three provided cables to your unit:
- USB
- HDMI
- Power supply
- To power off the unit, press and hold the Left ⇄ button.
- To adjust the button backlight intensity, rotate the top-right knob labeled VOL Push SQ.
II. Touchscreen Configuration
If your unit has a touchscreen, follow these steps to configure it:
- Open the FlightSimBuilder HUB and click the "Touchscreen" button on the left side.
- This will launch the Windows Touchscreen Configuration Tool.
- A white screen will appear on one of your monitors.
- Press ENTER repeatedly until the white screen moves to your G1000 unit.
- Once the white screen is on the correct display, touch the screen to confirm it.
- If you have two touchscreen units:
- Press ENTER again after confirming the first unit.
- When the white screen appears on the second unit, touch that screen to complete the setup.
III. Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) Integration
1. Install FlightSimBuilder Launcher
- Download the FlightSimBuilder Launcher.
- Run the setup installer to install the launcher and create a desktop shortcut.
- Launch the app from your desktop.
2. Select Configuration Mode
Choose how you'd like to use your units:
A. Native Avionics
- The avionics will pop out automatically.
- If the display does not appear on the correct G1000 screen, click "Next Screen" in the launcher until it's positioned correctly.
- This only needs to be done once.
B. Popout Avionics (Manual Setup)
- Start your flight in MSFS.
- Hold Right ALT until your mouse cursor turns into a magnifying glass.
- Click the avionics screen to pop it out, then drag it to your unit’s display.
- If using both PFD and MFD, they may initially pop out in a single window:
- Click the "+" button inside the window to split them into two.
- To remove the window header, hold Left ALT and press ENTER.
Note on Touchscreen Pop-Out Avionics (e.g., G3X):
Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) currently has limited support for touchscreen functionality. If you simply pop out an avionics display, using it on a touchscreen will often require a double tap instead of a single touch.
To fix this limitation, you can use the free Pop Out Panel Manager. This tool not only restores proper touchscreen behavior (single-tap support), but also allows you to save pop-out panel positions and automate the entire process for future flights.
Download it here: Pop Out Panel Manager 2024
C. Third-Party Avionics (TDS GTN 750)
- Purchase and download the TDS GTN 750 from tdssim.com/tdsgtnxi.
- Launch the GTN 750 software.
- Important. Go to Settings and click on "External Hardware Compatibility" to enable touchscreen
- Drag the GTN 750 window to your unit screen
- Optional: Click on GTN 750 Unit 1, then use the options "Show Bezel" to toggle the bezel on/off, and "Hide Window Frame" to remove the Windows title bar for a cleaner look.
- In the FlightSimBuilder Launcher, make sure GTN 750 is selected.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Keep the FlightSimBuilder HUB running while playing MSFS. Do not close it.
-
Control assignments must be done via the FlightSimBuilder Launcher.
MSFS does not expose all required functions for control mapping, so you won't see them in the MSFS controls menu. -
Black bars on PFD/MFD? This is a known MSFS bug.

Optional: Save Popout Panel Positions Automatically

IV. X-Plane
Using Launcher for fast encoder response and ease of setup
1. Download FlightSimBuilder Launcher
2. Run Setup, this will install the launcher and create a link on desktop
3. Run X-Plane Launcher (orange icon) from Desktop
V. X-Plane setup for Mac (& legacy window setup)
1. Place the following three files into \X-Plane 12\Resources\joystick configs\ folder and restart the sim
Windows
FlightSimBuilder_G1000_MFD.joy
FlightSimBuilder_G1000_PFD.joy
FlightSimBuilder_Audio_Panel.joy
Mac
FlightSimBuilder_G1000_PFD_-_Mac.joy
FlightSimBuilder_G1000_MFD_-_Mac.joy
FlightSimBuilder_Audio_Panel_-_Mac.joy
If the buttons / encoders still not working, please open control panel and navigate to FlightSimBuilder PFD or MFD. If the mapping is still empty, press "Reset to Defaults for FlightSimBuilder G1000 PFD" (or MFD) on the bottom left.
2. Remove the bezel around GPS:
1. Download the following file G1000PFD_2d.png or G1000MFD_2d.png (right click and select "Save Link As")
b. Locate "X-Plane 11\Resources\bitmaps\cockpit\EFIS\G1000" folder
c. Copy above two files to the above folder. When asked, select "Overwrite files"
d. Place downloaded files from above into "X-Plane 11\Resources\bitmaps\cockpit\EFIS\G1000" folder.
X-Plane 12
1. Download the following no_bezel archive file and extract to your preferred location
b. Locate "X-Plane 12\Resources\bitmaps\cockpit\EFIS\G1000" folder
c. Copy all files from the archive to the above folder. When asked, select "Overwrite files"
3. Launch X-Plane
4. Left click on G1000 in the sim
5. Click on top right corner to Undock it. The button on the top right corner is somewhat hidden but you can see it in the video.
6. Move the GPS to the unit screen
To remove the bar on the buttom, you can select "Automaticly hide the taskbar" in windows taskbar behaviors
V. Additional functionality:
1. Power On / Off - Left <->
2. Switch from PFD to MFD - Right <->
3. LED brightness - Right Vol
4. LCD Menu Mode. Hold Click Left "Nav" for 3 seconds.
4a (once in LCD Menu Mode). "NAV" press to Enter
4b (once in LCD Menu Mode). "NAV" small knob to +/-
4c (once in LCD Menu Mode). "Baro" press to cycle through different video inputs (VGA->HDMI) "
4d (once in LCD Menu Mode). Right "COM" press to Exit LCD Menu Mode
Once in flight simulator, you would just undock the GPS unit and move it to the unit screen.
4. Encoder Speed Mode. This will enable to increase / decrease encoder speed mode on a scale from 1 to 10 (by default it's 5). However currently, if you increase beyond 5, X-Plane / MSFS will not be able to read it.
You don't need to be in the simulator to complete this. You can do it outside of the sim—just hold the HDG button until the backlight turns off and only three buttons remain illuminated: APR, VS, and FLC.
Next, rotate the HDG bug one click to the left to decrease the speed or to the right to increase. The buttons will flash several times. Repeat this process until the buttons flash how many times you need the speed to be on 1-10 scale. You need to set the encoder speed to 5, if you use an older FW and you should be good to go.
Press "HDG" again to exit the encode speed mode.
