Hardware Test
Hardware Test Guide
Use this guide to run a quick hardware test and confirm the device itself is functioning correctly. Hardware issues are unlikely, but we want to double-check.
- Download Fred’s Controller Tester.
- Unzip the file and launch freds-controller-tester.exe.
- Select the tab for the unit you want to test (e.g., FlightSimBuilder G1000 PFD).
- Press a button or rotate a knob. You should see the corresponding control blink and turn green.
Note on Knobs:
Our units communicate with the simulator at high speed. In the tester, knob input may appear to “skip,” which is normal—the tester isn’t fast enough to capture every increment in real time. As long as you see some response, the knob is working properly.
Next Steps:
If all buttons and knobs register correctly in the tester, the hardware is functioning as intended. In that case, we will need to review your flight simulator setup and software configuration for the source of the issue.
