MSFS 2020 Issue - I can't popout avionics

Are you trying to pop out avionics in MSFS but can’t?
This is a known MSFS bug — although it was fixed in a previous update, it appears to have returned with a recent one.

While this can be a frustrating issue, the fixes listed below usually resolve it.

If you’re using a TNxi G1000, keep in mind that it includes native avionics profiles that don’t rely on MSFS popouts. This not only provides a smoother experience but also removes the dependency on MSFS popouts altogether.

Currently available native or third-party profiles include:

  • Steam Gauges (Simple)
  • Steam Gauges (Complex)
  • G600Txi (coming November 2025)
  • TDS GTN 750

Below, is a MSFS issue where the users reported not able to popout avionics and some workaround and solutions.

There is no magnifying glass when I try to pop out avionics
First, make sure you are holding the correct ALT which is right of your spacebar. If you can pop out some avionics but not others, try changing the livery of the problematic plane, it reloads the plane and usually solved the issue.

I can see the magnifying glass but I can't pop out my avionics in MSFS any more
There seems to be a new bug in MSFS after a recent update where when you pop out the avionics, they "show up" outside of your monitor boundaries. Please find below some of the solutions and hopefully it's something fixed in one of the future MSFS updates.
- The easiest way to fix it is to press ALT+ENT right after you poped out the avionics (even though you can't see them) before you do anything else.
- If it didn't work, go to settings and enable "Developer Mode". Next start the flight and if issues persist, go to dev menu on top and select "Change Aircraft". You can select the same aircraft but change the livery, in many cases this reloads the plane and fixes the issue.
- If if didn't work, you can try deleting your your MSFS data by following these steps .
- If it doesn't work, another option is to disconnect all of your monitors after poping out avionics and then connecting only 530 / g1000 unit first before plugging your main monitor back. We found this worked for many folks.
- If it still hasn't help, the last resort is MSFS re-install.
Yes, I did, but I just made it work. It is a tricky one, and I feel like I found a bug of the bug.

Another workaround reported by the user

Just in case someone else had this problem:
1. turn on the development mode
2. using the menu drop down for airplane selection
3. as soon as the airplane is loaded, use the right Alt+magnifier to pop it out. Note: you have to make it quick, click the PFD/MFD within a second, then it can pop out. Initially, I waited like 5 seconds to let airplane fully load, it didn't work.

After this, my G1000 and other avionics can pop out normally without using the dev mode.

Using third party software to eliminate the issue
Some users reported using popout manger to resolve the issue. You can find popout manager here
