Excellent product! Shipping was fast and even came with a AU Plug for us downunder. Works flawlessly with MSFS, got it setup and working in minutes. Had a brief technical issue but support responded within minutes. Excellent service and fantastic product. Highly highly recommend.
I use my sim setup primarily in VR for VFR and IFR GA training purposes as I work towards my PPL and eventually IFR ratings. One frustration was always dealing with radios and the GNS using a mouse while in VR. I picked this up just to have a physical item I could reach for and use while in the VR goggles to make the training and multitasking more realistic. I’m so happy I did, this thing is amazing and really brings the entire experience to a whole new level. I would recommend anyone who is serious about their sim setup buy this without a second thought, especially if muscle memory and bringing more realism to your training are a top priority. I’m going to order a second so I can have a 530/430 stack and easily managed dual nav/comm setup.
It is obvious that FSB put a lot of care into the design and build of these units and this becomes even more apparent when taking them apart. The buttons and encoders all work well, the display is good. Overall, a good unit for a fair price. Reasonably priced international shipping is offered (far less common than it should be for US sellers) and FSB gets orders shipped very fast. What sets this apart from the main alternative is it's versatility. As a simple button box and screen it will work with virtually any game (you can see it being used with Elite Dangerous in the pic below) and it will not require updates to maintain its functionality with them. I bought the unit primarily to use with DCS and it works great although I strongly recommend the mod below due to an odd quirk in how the knobs work for the NS430 module in DCS (not an issue with the unit - it's an issue with the game module). https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315235/ Some critical commentary. The outer housing is made of acrylic so it is quite brittle. This isn't a problem once it's installed but care should be taken if modifying it. The 3D printed knobs could be better. Personally I'd prefer commercial knobs of better quality material even if they aren't perfect replicas of the Garmin knobs, I know that not everyone will agree. I will probably replace these. The power cable is quite short. Tip - extension leads for guitar pedals are suitable and readily available. There are displays and driver boards that run off 5V so the USB connection could also power the display. I think this would be a really good improvement to the unit. The C and V knobs are just buttons rather than knobs with press. DCS uses these knobs (in particular, you must turn the C knob to power the unit on) and it's a little puzzling that they aren't fully functional, especially since the input numbering implies that there are four unused inputs... Overall, it is a good unit and I'm pleased with it but a couple of small changes could make it even better.
Very useful addition to MSFS!
Using the GNS530 is so much better and more immersive than trying to use the mouse to turn the knobs in the cockpit or other solutions. Reasonably priced and works great!
Excellent product and quality
I had an excellent experience with FlightSimBuilder, at every step! - Really fast shipping and delivery. I took UPS and live in Europe. I ordered on Monday and received the parcel on Friday. There are (unfortunately) taxes to pay, but that’s the rule and you have to be aware of. - Power supply in Europe format. I forgot to ask for, and FlightSimBuilder thought about that :-) - Good overall quality. The sim does not look cheap. It is way cheaper than many other manufacturers, for a great experience. - Software installation was ok (Win10, MSFS2020). It didn't recognize the unit at firstbut it ran after using the dedicated startup program. I think I have some conflicting extensions/plugins which prevent a smooth use, but it took no more thant 10-15min to make it work. - I just started using it and no bug to report :-) Thanks again! Would definitely recommand it.
Perfect for learning the garmin 430/530
Makes flying instrument approaches in the simulator a lot more fun, works perfect!
G1000 and G530
Both are amazing!! Now with the new software there is no joystick programming. Work like the real deal!
I totally love this item, it functions perfectly and was super easy to set up. I know a lot of planes irl still use this so it's amazing to have a working copy at home. I use it as a spare monitor when not gaming , and usually use it music control. Can't wait to get my G1000nxi!
It works great!
I'm pretty happy with GNS 530. It works just as well as I expected in MSFS. It's a day and night difference in terms of flicking the buttons/knobs with mouse vs actually turning the physical knobs. I hated using 530 in sims with mouse, but with this gear using 530 is truly a joyful experience. As real as it gets - I'm using 430/530 in real C172 too. In addition, Stan the seller is extremely responsive to my emails and questions - a huge plus! Already recommended it to my CFI who's doing instrument training.
Best value GNS530 by far! 10/10 recommend! Superb!
